Since graduating from Art Center College of Design, Calef Brown's illustrations have appeared in Time, Rolling Stone, Fortune, The Atlantic, Newsweek, The New York Times, Entertainment Weekly, Business Week, The New Yorker, GQ, Sports Illustrated, and numerous other newspapers and magazines around the country and internationally. He has created CD and book covers, murals and packaging for clients like Target Stores, Coca Cola, Adidas, Martha Stewart, Etrade, Sony Music, and Nickelodeon.

His paintings and drawings have been shown in galleries in New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Portland, and were also included in America Illustrated, the inaugural exhibit at the new National Gallery of Modern and Contemporary Art in Rome.

Calef has also written and illustrated many acclaimed children's books Polkabats and Octopus Slacks, Dutch Sneakers and Fleakeepers, Tippintown, Soup for Breakfast, and the #1 New York Times bestseller Flamingos on the Roof. His latest efforts Hallowilloween: Nefarious Silliness, was published by Houghton Mifflin in September 2010.
