Kim Rosen illustration for Smithsonian Magazine

Kim Rosen illustrated this piece for an interesting article on air pollution in the current issue of Smithsonian Magazine.  The opening of the article states that contrary to scientists’ belief that the earth was untainted by human-made pollutants up until the Industrial Revolution, humans actually began emitting greenhouse gases at least 2,000 years ago.  Based on the study of gas bubbles recently discovered trapped in Greenland‘s ice, we now know that methane gas has impacted our atmosphere since the Romans.  Fascinating!
